Volunteer Opportunities

Why Volunteer?

Different people choose to volunteer for different reasons. Some feel this compelling urge within to give something back to society especially the less fortunate and the marginalized. Some others want to develop their own skills or learn to interact and work with people. There are still others who choose to volunteer in order to enhance their CVs or get accreditation or to complete a college project. The reasons may vary but in either case, volunteering is a challenging and at the same time highly rewarding experience. In short, volunteering simply makes you more human.

Who Can Volunteer?

Shelter Don Bosco has always proved to be a much-preferred haven for volunteers from all walks of life. Be it college students or working professionals like Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Engineers, Chartered Accountants, Chefs, and even housewives… there’s a volunteer opportunity for everyone. Past volunteer experiences and testimonials will vouch for the very welcoming nature and we-know-each-other-for-years attitude of the boys at Shelter. It doesn’t matter what you do, if you have an open mind, the will to do, and a heart to give, you’re a volunteer!

How Can I Volunteer?

At Shelter, the boys are in the age group of 10 to 18 years and study in different schools teaching in different mediums (English, Hindi, Marathi) following different curriculums (Private/Municipal) which makes it challenging for the Staff and Educators especially in giving individual attention. In such cases, volunteers come to the rescue by dedicated teaching to individual boys or small groups making it easier for effective follow-up. It also helps boys who need specific help in certain subjects like Mathematics or Science or Languages. Besides, teaching we could also use some help in conducting activities like Art & Craft, Music, Dance, etc. We also invite volunteers to conduct sessions or workshops on Life Skills, Value Education, Ecology, personality development, communication skills, etc. If you have an idea, or a skill set you feel would benefit a less-privileged child, we have a volunteer opportunity for you.
